UK Relaxes Online Gambling Advertisment Requirements

The UK is certainly leading the way for internet gambling by relaxing their laws this weeks pertaining to the detriment of online gaming. This new set of robust rules is designed to ensure that the advertisements are socially responsible in nature. They have been designed to specifically protect children and the vulnerable members of society.

These new rules will be enforced as of September 2007. CAP and BCAP developed this rules in response to the new Gambling Act 2005 a legislated framework for the online gambling sector. Once the full enactment of the Gambling Act 2005 is in full force the gambling sectors that include sports betting will be permitted to advertise more freely while adhering to socially accepted advertising policies.

A news source in the UK shows that almost 8% of the online gamblers have at some time used wireless technology to be online. Online poker fell into second position below the national lotteries. The targeted age group for remote gambling was the 18-35 age brackets. The most common devices used for wireless gambling were the cell phone, pda and wireless laptop.

It is though that the age of wireless gambling is on the horizon and it is expected to become a multi-billion dollar business by 2011.

South Africa's online poker popularity is booming thanks in part to Cape Town Retiree Peter Vermaas and his win at the All-African Poker Championships, taking home a cool Million Dollar jackpot.

Although online gambling is illegal in South Africa this hasn't had an impact on the boom market. In December an approved draft was submitted to Cabinet to regulate online and cell phone gambling.
